This really hit me when I read this. I won't lie. I don't know a hell of a lot of music theory and the mechanics behind it. I've learned strictly from experience. I learned how a good song should be written simply by writing my own songs and seeing what ppl feel and what they don't feel. I learned about instrumentation from performing live with bands. I got a nack of how passion in one's voice could change someone's entire perspective on a song. I learned about pitch, compression and things of that nature from constantly being in the studio.
But just from these experiences, I've grown to appreciate music differently to the average person. I for one am glad I listen to music from the point of view of a musician. But there are still some things i will never be able to enjoy about music because of my knowledge in the art. Some would call it a double edged sword.
Anyway, enough babbling from me. Go ahead and read the article and feel free to leave your comments
